Applecrumble

Warm apple crumble with sweet raisins, sticky dates and a crumbly topping, smothered in Pumpkin Spice caramel. All you need is a baking dish, and there’s no need to make it look perfect.
Preparation 20 min, baking 40 min, total 1 hour. Serves 6.
Why it works
Apples bring acidity, raisins and dates add sweetness and chewiness, and the crumble delivers butteriness and crunch. Suboro Pumpkin Spice brings everything together.
What you need:
For the filling:
1 kg apples (Elstar or Belle de Boskoop)
50 g raisins
80 g dates, pitted and chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
3 tbsp Suboro Pumpkin Spice
For the crumble:
150 g flour
100 g cold butter, cubed
80 g brown sugar
A pinch of salt
To finish:
A generous drizzle of Suboro Pumpkin Spice
Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, to serve
Our tip: use cold butter for the crumble. This keeps the topping in chunky crumbs rather than turning it into a ball of dough.
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a baking dish measuring approximately 20 × 30 cm.
Peel and chop the apples. Mix them with the raisins, dates, cinnamon and 3 tbsp Suboro Pumpkin Spice, then spread the mixture in the dish.
Rub the flour, butter, brown sugar and salt together with your fingertips until you have coarse crumbs.
Scatter the crumble over the apples without pressing it down.
Bake for 40 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
Leave to rest for 10 minutes, then squeeze a generous drizzle of Suboro Pumpkin Spice over the top.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
